How to party in Vienna

Vienna by night

Vienna starts late, dances long, and ends somewhere between a Würstelstand and sunrise by the Danube. From imperial backdrops to basement techno and off-location openings, high culture and hedonism blur into one endless night

CLUB: GRELLE FORELLE

Hidden beneath the Danube Canal, Grelle Forelle is Vienna’s most uncompromising electronic playground — a dark, bass-driven space where the crowd comes to dance, not to be seen. International techno and house, a no-photo policy and a strict door turn the night into a world of its own, usually peaking around sunrise. This is the city without the waltz.

Address: Spittelauer Lände 12, 1090 Vienna

Hours: Fri & Sat 23:00–06:00

Tanzbar Jenseits

Half bar, half time capsule, Tanzbar Jenseits is Vienna’s lovingly excessive answer to the classic disco night. Glitter meets kitsch, Italo hits collide with queer pop, and between red velvet, chandeliers and the infamous smoking aquarium, strangers become dance partners within minutes. It’s sweaty, euphoric and gloriously unpolished — the kind of night where you come for one drink and leave sometime the next day. Pure escapism, Viennese style.

Address: Windmühlgasse 29, 1060 Vienna

Hours: Thu–Sat from 22:00
