grätzlhotel karmelitermarkt

Like a Guest at the Neighbors

A completely new hotel concept invites individual travelers to discover a side of Vienna off the beaten tourist path and to feel truly Viennese for the duration of their stay. To this end, former shops around the Karmelitermarkt in the 2nd district have been redesigned into suites.

You can live in a former lamp shop or bakery, reworked into an attractive, exquisite apartment, located on the ground floor and directly connected with the neighborhood. But you won’t find the classical reception here.

“All the advantages of private, independent living. With the complete city as a lobby in front of the door of the hotel room!”

The café “zur Rezeption” on Großen Sperlgasse 6 offers guests – and all neighborhood residents at the same time – an infopoint when there is something in need. Above and beyond the touristic “how to get to St. Stephen’s Cathedral”, here you can get first-hand tips, learn about things that aren’t in the city guide.

Theresia Kohlmayr and Fanny Holzer-Luschnig (Urbanauts Hospitality Group) – the talented ladies behind this project – curate the “social network” of their hotel idea. Business partners in the area (from the massage institute and the cosmetic salon to the tailor or the Turkish baker) are recommended to the guests in an effort to strengthen the neighborly ties.

The grätzlhotel also offers suites in the Karolinenviertel in the 4th district and near the Meidlinger Markt in the 12th district. Suites in the 20th district are already in planning.
