Cities are places full of opportunities, possibilities and diversity. But, when confronted with the challenge of providing accommodation and basic services for a large number of new arrivals, just how adaptable is the city? There will be talks with experts on this issue in the Architekturzentrum Wien for a day.
How flexibly do society, the administration, planners and architects react to this situation? During the history of Vienna there have been repeated waves of immigration. The annual event of Architektur ohne Grenzen asks what has been learned from the past. Positions from theory and practice illuminate the history and theories of urban sociology, as well as introducing concepts that plan “Places for People”.
