Mochi

The hip Japanese restaurant in Praterstraße

Why travel afar when there’s a great Asian place so close that cooks such delicious fresh food? A small, fine place at a beautiful spot in the 2nd district.

The tiny 50 square meters were designed by the Viennese architect trio “Kohlmayr Lutter Knapp”. The owners are Tobi Müller, who cooked at DO & CO and Eduard Dimant who studied under the star chefs Pierre Gagnaire and Jean-François Piège in Paris. Today, in their own restaurant, they cook up very authentic, sometimes modernized Japanese delicacies for a moderate price. Since its opening in 2012 Mochi has advanced to a true hotspot and is regrettably often fully booked. So an early table reservation is highly recommended! A small hint: Between 3 and 5 pm there’s a bit less going on. In summer there is also an outdoor garden.

Across the way there is the take-away store o.m.k. There you can immediately take the Mochi dishes with you – for friends, for example, who couldn’t get hold of a place to sit anymore.
